HTML Introduction

HTML how you could see in the last chapter of HTML course, It is a markup lenguage but not a programming lenguage.

HTML means HyperText Markup Language. HTML make a document design. A HTML document can be seen in our desktop or into a website, but in both site It will be seen like identical, It is due the browser read the HTML code to display the content.

Important: Don’t confuse browser with search engines.

HTML define any website design, HTML “say” to browser where is the heading one, two…, where is the title, the favicon, the letter font and size, each paragraph and more thing, all website design is due to HTML code. Google.com, Wikipedia.org, all design of theses webs can be made by HTML. But HTML is design, not style. The websites styles are make with CSS and CSS is other Markup language. CSS can change the color of a button when you click it, and HTML create that button. But, in spite of you need CSS to make style, the truth is that you can create a website cool with HTML.

In another hand, a website is not just design or style. With HTML you can make a great website, but a static website. To make a website with users, games, forum, and more, you will need programming SQL, PHP and Javascript.

But nowadays you can make a forum in two minuts with wordpress and you knowledge in HTML to make your website better.

WordPress is great, but if you now markup lengauges or programming lenguage, you could create best and more personalized sites.

Coming back to this chapter, HTML is a standar and It’s validate by W3C, who define ths standar, when you ask yourself if your website or HTML document is correct or not, you must check It in the W3C validator.

Nowadays HTML5 is the last version of HTML. This last version is so cool and powerful, you can create thing really cool like your own video player.

HTML is written by tags, for example: <h1>Titulo</h1>. When you write “Titulo” it will appear in big letters and bold. It’s due to HTML code. The browser read It and show It.

You must to try it! Click the download link, click again and click on “save as”..Then go to your desktop and click again the document, It will opened by your browser and later open the document with another program like notes block. See the code, change the code(delete <h1></h1> tags and save) and open again the document with your browser. The title is not a title now..
