JavaScript History

JavaScript also called JS is a programming language developed by Brendan Eich from Netscape(a browser). At the beginning JS was called Monca, later LiveScript, ladt JavaScript. JavaScript had chosen to be popular due to Java already existed.

Nowadays both lenguage: JavaScript and Java are very popular but they aren’t similar, In fact the only similar point is the name, both were developed by different persons, both have very different estructure and syntax and both are used for different things.

To clarify, Brendan called his programming lenguage JS just for marketing. In fact, he called It JavaScript when the new features for add Java to Netscape was done, in this way he got more popularity but there was a lot of confusion, nowadays a lot of people continue confusing both lenguage. All that happened in 1995.

Nowadays JS is a tarde mark registered by Oracle Corporation. Microsoft use a similar called lenguage: JScript, JScript sintaxis is very similar to Javascript but is not the same lenguage.

To avoid imcompatiblities the W3C made a new standar called DOM(Document Objetc Model), which is integrated in all main browser like IE, Firefoc, Chrome, Safari, Konquero, Opera…

In adittion, on june of 1997 the ECMA made a standar called ECMAScript, and a ISO, the 16262 ISO.

In short JavaScript is a programming lenguage very used to develop websites, there are a lot of libraries to help and JS can be used to programming app in the server or in the customer side. Using JS on the server side you can keep your code private and using It on the customer or browser side the processing effort falls on customer PC hardware, in this way the server is less overload.

Actually, the major website use the next programming lenguages: JS, SQL and PHP. JS is very important.
